Club Squads

Our Club has a range of training squads for members to participate in, if they choose. Squads are typically categorised by age or ability and are allocated experienced coaches and equipment with set weekly training times.

Any queries regarding squad allocations, crew selections, equipment access and/or bookings and regatta participation should be directed to our Captains team.

Juniors (U15/U17)

Rowing is a popular sport for many Year 8-12 students in Ballarat and students enjoy the experience of club rowing in addition to, or as an alternative to, rowing with their local school. Our junior squad is also suitable for students from schools who do not offer a rowing program.

Under 23 SCHOOL LEAVERS (U19/U21/U23)

Current Year 12 or recent school leavers who are keen to continue their rowing here in Ballarat are encouraged to join our social yet competitive Under 23 Squad where they can continue the sport to whatever level they aspire to. We also assist athletes to prepare for a transition to elite rowing based in Melbourne. Our coaches elite level coaches with State and National level experience and national qualifications.

DEVELOPMENT SQUAD / Recreational

Graduates from our Learn2Row program are encouraged to move into our Development Squad where they can continue to hone their rowing skills and grow their confidence in a safe, fun and encouraging environment. Ideally, participants in this squad get their first taste of competition in beginner events with a strong focus on leisure and pleasure!

Seniors / MASTERS (18+)

Our senior mens and womens squads consist of adult rowers of all ages and abilities, with many having returned to rowing after a lengthy period away from the sport. Members can participate in Masters events in the year in which they turn 28 years of age and our club boasts a healthy contingent of competitive Masters rowers. Joining our senior squads is a great way to make new friends and get fit in the process!
